ואתו גברי קרית יערים ואסיקו ית ארונא דיי ואעלו יתיה לבית אבינדב די בגבעתא וית אלעזר בריה זמינו למטר ית ארונא דיי:
dyy arwna yth lmTr zmynw bryh alezr wyth bgbetha dy abyndb lbyth ythyh waelw dyy arwna yth wasyqw yerym qryth gbry wathw
The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took Yahweh’s ark, and brought it into Abinadab’s house on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep Yahweh’s ark.

והוה מיומא דשרא ארונא בקרית יערים וסגיאו יומיא והוו עסרין שנין ואתנהיאו כל בית ישראל בתר פולחנא דיי:
dyy pwlkhna bthr yshral byth kl wathnhyaw shnyn esryn whww ywmya wsgyaw yerym bqryth arwna dshra mywma whwh
From the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, the time was long—for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh.

ואמר שמואל לכל בית ישראל למימר אם בכל לבכון אתון תיבין לפולחנא דיי אעדו ית טעות עממיא מביניכון ועשתרתא ואתקינו לבכון לפלחנא דיי ופלחו קדמוהי בלחודוהי וישיזב יתכון מידא דפלשתאי:
dplshthay myda ythkwn wyshyzb blkhwdwhy qdmwhy wplkhw dyy lplkhna lbkwn wathqynw weshthrtha mbynykwn emmya Tewth yth aedw dyy lpwlkhna thybyn athwn lbkwn bkl am lmymr yshral byth lkl shmwal wamr
Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

ואעדיו בני ישראל ית בעליא וית עשתרתא ופלחו קדם יי בלחודוהי:
blkhwdwhy yy qdm wplkhw eshthrtha wyth belya yth yshral bny waedyw
Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only.

ואמר שמואל כנישו ית כל ישראל למצפיא ואצלי עליכון קדם יי:
yy qdm elykwn watsly lmtspya yshral kl yth knyshw shmwal wamr
Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”

ואתכנישו למצפיא ושפיכו לבהון בתיובתא כמיא קדם יי וצמו ביומא ההוא ואמרו תמן חבנא קדם יי ודן שמואל ית בני ישראל במצפיא:
bmtspya yshral bny yth shmwal wdn yy qdm khbna thmn wamrw hhwa bywma wtsmw yy qdm kmya bthywbtha lbhwn wshpykw lmtspya wathknyshw
They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

ושמעו פלשתאי ארי אתכנישו בני ישראל למצפיא וסליקו טורני פלשתאי על ישראל ושמעו בני ישראל ודחילו מן קדם פלשתאי:
plshthay qdm mn wdkhylw yshral bny wshmew yshral el plshthay Twrny wslyqw lmtspya yshral bny athknyshw ary plshthay wshmew
When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

ואמרו בני ישראל לשמואל לא תשתיק מננא מלצלאה קדם יי אלהנא ויפרקננא מידא דפלשתאי:
dplshthay myda wyprqnna alhna yy qdm mltslah mnna thshthyq la lshmwal yshral bny wamrw
The children of Israel said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying to Yahweh our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.”

ונסיב שמואל אמרא דחלבא חד ואסקיה עלתא קדם יי וצלי שמואל קדם יי על ישראל וקביל צלותיה יי:
yy tslwthyh wqbyl yshral el yy qdm shmwal wtsly yy qdm eltha wasqyh khd dkhlba amra shmwal wnsyb
Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Samuel cried to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.

והוה שמואל מסיק עלתא ופלשתאי אתקרבו לאגחא קרבא בישראל ואכלי יי בקל רב ביומא ההוא על פלשתאי ושגישינון ואתברו קדם ישראל:
yshral qdm wathbrw wshgyshynwn plshthay el hhwa bywma rb bql yy wakly byshral qrba lagkha athqrbw wplshthay eltha msyq shmwal whwh
As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to battle against Israel; but Yahweh thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel.

ונפקו אנשי ישראל מן מצפיא ורדפו ית פלשתאי ומחונון עד מלרע לבית שרון:
shrwn lbyth mlre ed wmkhwnwn plshthay yth wrdpw mtspya mn yshral anshy wnpqw
The men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and struck them until they came under Beth Kar.

ונסיב שמואל אבנא חדא ושוי בין מצפיא ובין שינא וקרא ית שמה אבן סעדא ואמר עד הכא סעדנא יי:
yy sedna hka ed wamr seda abn shmh yth wqra shyna wbyn mtspya byn wshwy khda abna shmwal wnsyb
Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Yahweh helped us until now.”

ואתברו פלשתאי ולא אוסיפו עוד למיעל בתחום ישראל והות מחתא דיי בפלשתאי כל יומי שמואל:
shmwal ywmy kl bplshthay dyy mkhtha whwth yshral bthkhwm lmyel ewd awsypw wla plshthay wathbrw
So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. Yahweh’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

ותבא קירויא דנסיבו פלשתאי מן ישראל לישראל מעקרון ועד גת וית תחומיהון שיזיב ישראל מידא דפלשתאי והוה שלמא בין ישראל ובין אמוראי:
amwray wbyn yshral byn shlma whwh dplshthay myda yshral shyzyb thkhwmyhwn wyth gth wed meqrwn lyshral yshral mn plshthay dnsybw qyrwya wthba
The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

ודן שמואל ית ישראל כל יומי חיוהי:
khywhy ywmy kl yshral yth shmwal wdn
Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

ואזל בזמן שנא בשנא ומסתחר לבית אל ולגלגלא ולמצפיא ודאין ית ישראל ית כל אתריא האלין:
halyn athrya kl yth yshral yth wdayn wlmtspya wlglgla al lbyth wmsthkhr bshna shna bzmn wazl
He went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.
